Doris Marie Couture, 94, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family on Friday morning, October 9, 2015 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.
Doris was born June 17, 1921 in Ishpeming to William and Marie (Cuttum) Richards, attended Ishpeming High School and was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Couture was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee. In her free time she enjoyed reading, walking, and spending time with her family. She loved being with her beloved grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter, Becky (Tyrone) Bossert of Negaunee; son, Scott (Karen) Couture of Ishpeming; sister, Harriet Anderson of Negaunee; 4 grandchildren: Todd (Jenn) Couture, Megan, Paige and Ethan Couture; a great-granddaughter, Mika Couture; numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald on Dec. 1, 1997; two infant children, Todd and Natalie; a granddaughter, Natalie Petersen; and 3 brothers: Harvey, Tom and Ray Richards.
Memorial services will be held at the Koskey Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 24th with Rev. Douglas E. Mater officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. Doris’ family extends a special thank you to the Eastwood Nursing Center staff for their wonderful care.
