William Raymond ‘Bill’ Walimaki, Sr., 70, of Ash St., Gwinn, passed away Friday morning, June 23, 2017 at UP Health System – Marquette.
Bill was born September 25, 1946 in Chicago to Edward and Mary (Toennessen) Walimaki and graduated from Cooley High School, Class of 1964. He was employed as a print press operator since graduation, most recently at Johnson’s Printing in Marquette, retiring in 2010.
In his free time, Bill enjoyed playing pool and darts, pitching horseshoes, bowling and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and also enjoyed watching NASCAR. Most of all, he enjoyed taking family side by side rides and spending time with his grandsons. Bill was also an animal lover and leaves behind his dog Chelsea and four birds.
Surviving are his three daughters: Candy Walimaki of Gwinn, Samantha (Donald) Bork of Deerfield and Sarah (Ronald) Zinski of Gwinn; son, William (Stacie) Walimaki, Jr. of Gwinn; two grandsons: Maxwell Zinski and Carter Walimaki; and numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 30 years, Myra (Copher) Walimaki in 2004.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 1st at the Gwinn Cemetery.
