Susan Maureen Veale, 68, of Camelot Drive, Negaunee, passed away in the care of her loving family Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.
Susan was born May 11, 1949 in Marquette to Alger Emery and Helvi Marie (Pynnonen) Jennings, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1967, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident.
Mrs. Veale was a member of Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee. She was a loving homemaker and most enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was known as the ‘card queen’ at camp, spending many hours around the card table with family and friends. An avid Negaunee Miner fan, she loved road trips to neighboring communities to cheer on her beloved Miners.
Surviving are her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Veale; her daughter, Heather (Greg) Toutant of Negaunee; her son, Robert Alger Veale of Negaunee; two grandchildren: Faith and Preston Toutant; sisters-in-law, Diane Jennings of New Carlisle, OH and Linda (Kurt) Prond of Wintergreen Lake; three brothers-in-law: Russell (Mary) Veale of Norway, Brian (Brenda) Veale of Gwinn and Randy (Diane) Veale of Spencer, WI; a special group of friends, the ‘A to Z’ gang; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ronald Jennings.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 26th at Mitchell United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Albert Barchue officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 4:00 pm at the church on Friday, and also at a dinner reception in the church hall. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Susan’s memory to the Mitchell United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
