JULIE BETH ANDREWS (Andrews)
Julie B. Andrews
Negaunee
Julie Beth Andrews, 49, a lifelong area resident and most recently of Norlite Nursing Center, passed away in the loving care of her family early Sunday morning, April 24, 2016, at UP Health System, Marquette following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Julie was born December 13, 1966 in Ishpeming to Roy A. and Catherine A. (Nault) Andrews and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1985. Following graduation, she attended Lake Superior State University for two years before returning to the Marquette area and attending Northern Michigan University. Julie was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994, but through her strong will and determination she earned a bachelor’s degree from NMU in 1997. She was employed as an addiction counselor for Great Lakes Recovery for several years, retiring due to health complications.
Julie was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee. She was a proud supporter of both the Relay for Life of Marquette County and a local cancer support group. In her free time, she enjoyed being outdoors camping and fishing. She was an avid reader and loved listening to music. Most of all, Julie enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her beloved nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her mother, Catherine Andrews of Negaunee; sisters: Anne (Michael Mazzuchi) Andrews of Washington, D.C., and Karen (Justin) Prusi of Negaunee; her brother, Jeff (Theresa) Andrews of Negaunee; nieces and nephews: Emma and Thomas Mazzuchi of Washington, D.C., Katie Hammond and Rachael (Eric) Ruiz, both of Columbus, OH, and Elliot and Alec Prusi of Negaunee; great-niece and nephew, Sophia and Ayden Ruiz; her aunt, Mary Lou Maki; a very dear friend, Karey LaJoye; several cousins; and her beloved beagle, Gracie. She was preceded in death by her father Roy in 1998; her maternal grandparents, William and Anna Nault; her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Eleanor Andrews; an uncle, Roland Maki; a special great aunt and uncle, Marion and Alfred Nault; and her beloved beagle, Rosie.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 27th at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Heikkala, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00 pm until the time of services at 7:00 pm at the funeral home on Wednesday, and also at a dinner reception at the Negaunee Elks immediately following services. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Julie’s memory to the Relay for Life of Marquette County or Cancer Care of Marquette County.
