Sheila Dawn Champion, 68, of W. Water St., Negaunee, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at UP Health System Bell.
Sheila was born October 30, 1946 in Ishpeming to Oscar and Tyne (Hill) Aho and graduated from National Mine High School, Class of 1964. She married David Champion on September 10, 1966 and they have been lifelong area residents except for a few years while he served in the military.
Sheila was a wonderful homemaker; she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved animals and enjoyed being with her pets.
Surviving are her loving husband of 49 years, David Champion; daughter, Sherry (Rod) Burdick of Negaunee; son, Kevin (Noelle) Champion of Marquette; 2 grandchildren: Emily Champion and Jacy Kirby; sister, Sharon Maynard of Palmer; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Steven Palm) Hoff of Skandia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Calvin Aho.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 11th at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. John Karvonen officiating. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 1:00 pm at the funeral home on Friday.
