Dorie M. O’Mara, 89, former Illinois and Gwinn resident, died at 2:32 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility where she had resided since 2006.

Dorie was born July 3, 1921 in Panama, IL to John and Johann (Brezorir) Cerkvenik. She lived in Illinois for a majority of her life and was employed as a supervisor and technician at a Motorola plant for nearly 20 years. She moved to Gwinn where she lived for 9 years and was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Surviving are 2 daughters: Monica (Paul) Tessmer of Gwinn and Mary Alice O’Mara of Bolingbrook, IL, a son, James O’Mara of Lockport, IL, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Johann Kosina of Naperville, IL, several nieces and nephews. Dorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James O’Mara in 1987, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 5 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Gwinn with Father Ronald Timock officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends at a luncheon in the church hall following the mass.
