PATRICIA A.  RUDNESS (Hampton)
Patricia A. Rudness, 78, of Largo, FL and former Marquette resident passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 26, 2017 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Facility with her loving family at her side and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.
Patricia was born June 15, 1939 in Ishpeming to Alvin C. ‘Mike’ and Emma (Beadle) Hampton. She graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1957 and continued her education at Northern Michigan University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in business, Master’s Degree in Education and an Educational Specialist in Administration. She began her working career at Champion High School as a Business Teacher and Theatre Director and then to Westwood High School where she was a nationally recognized BOEC Advisor in addition to her teaching in typing, business, and office practice. She retired in 1995 with 30 years of service with the school district. After retirement Patricia and her husband relocated to Largo FL, where they were very active in the Ranchero Village choral groups and golf leagues. She was also the theatre director at the Ranchero Little Theatre where she wrote, directed and acted in numerous productions.
Mrs. Rudness was a member of Anona Methodist Church, Largo, FL and a former member of Mitchell United Methodist Church in Negaunee.
Surviving are her sons, Steven (Jill Froberg) Rudness of Gwinn and Mark (Judy) Rudness of Marquette; daughter, Valeria (Rudness) Lari of Minneapolis; 6 grandchildren: Adam (Kim O’Neill), Courtney and Bethany Rudness, Gina (Jerry) Tudor and Nicole and Steven Dyson; 4 great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Justin and Elizabeth Tudor and Nicholas Dyson; a sister, Aileen Jordan of Kyle, TX; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many close friends in the Marquette and Largo, FL areas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Willard J. Rudness on Oct. 28, 2003; an infant sister, Doris Hampton; and companion, George Young.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, August 30th at Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee with Rev. J. Albert Barchue officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:30 am at the church on Wednesday, and also at a luncheon in the church fellowship hall immediately following services.
