Negaunee
Maria Ann Ruesing, 43, of Negaunee, beloved mother, daughter, granddaughter, grandmother, sister, niece and cousin, entered eternal life Monday morning, November 21, 2016 at her home.
Maria was born May 21, 1973 in Ishpeming to Michael J. and Jenny L. (Brown) Ruesing and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1991. She was employed for 20 years in the administration department at Marquette General Hospital and most recently as a secretary for Stevens Hardie Family Practice in Marquette.
In her free time, Maria enjoyed playing softball, four-wheeling, canoeing and kayaking, and spending time at the family camp on the Dead River Basin. She was an avid sports fan for both the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. She also liked listening to music, playing music trivia and watching Wheel of Fortune. Most of all, Maria loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was a kind and loving person with an infectious smile and an unforgettable laugh, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
Surviving are her parents, Michael and Jenny Ruesing of Negaunee; son, Matthew (Aleah Kissel) Rasanen of Negaunee; grandchildren, Michael and McKenna Rasanen; paternal grandfather, Francis Ruesing; brother, Tony (Katie Hicks) Ruesing of Negaunee; aunts and uncles: Gina (David) Carriere, John ‘Sam’ (Lori) Ruesing, Nanette (Robert) St. Aubin, Sandra Hodge, Fred (Carol) Brown, and Grover (Sharon) Gallion; special companion, Gerald Potvin of Palmer; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Helen and Cleve Gallion; her paternal grandmothers, Mary Ann Ruesing and Lois Ruesing; uncles, Louis and Timothy Ruesing; and her aunt, Helene 'Keek' Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 26th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 1:00 pm at the church on Saturday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services in the St. Paul Gymnasium. Pallbearers will be her son, Matthew Rasanen, brother, Tony Ruesing, cousin, Bradley Ruesing, uncles, Sam Ruesing and David Carriere, and special companion, Gerald Potvin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Maria’s memory to Honor Credit Union - Negaunee Branch, 490, Hwy US 41, Negaunee, MI 49866, for a scholarship fund established for her grandchildren.
