Carol (Smail) Trudell
Negaunee
Carol Faye (Smail) Trudell, 80, of County Road, Negaunee, passed away Thursday evening, October 8, 2015 at UP Health System Marquette.
Carol was born December 21, 1934 in Negaunee to William and Clara (Penhale) Smail and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1953. She was a lifelong Negaunee resident and was employed for many years as a clerk for Mautino’s Drug Store.
Mrs. Trudell was a very active and devoted member of Mitchell United Methodist Church, Negaunee. She belonged to the United Methodist Women and was active with serving funeral lunches, amongst many other committees. Carol also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She was an avid reader and enjoyed antiquing, but most of all, loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she was so proud of.
Surviving are her two daughters: Denice (Steve) Merrick of Sumter, SC and Janice (Tim) Ansell of L’Anse; her son, Richard (Brenda) Trudell of Ishpeming; her sister, Marjorie Hodgins of Kingsford; 6 grandchildren: Cori (Jeff) Davenport, Bryan (Laura) Merrick, Christopher (Rachel Harrelson) Merrick, Adrian Louis Trudell, Virginia Faye Trudell and Cason (Brianna Mayo) Ansell; 5 great-grandchildren: Ella, Cole and Grant Davenport, and Avery and Leslie Merrick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Louis Trudell on Jan. 26, 1983; and 10 beloved brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Oct. 14th at Mitchell United Methodist Church with Rev. Douglas E. Mater officiating. Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 am until the time of services at 11:00 am at the church on Wednesday, and also at a luncheon immediately following in the church hall.
