Negaunee
Kathleen Ann Kennedy, 50, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away unexpectedly and surrounded by her loving children early Thursday morning, October 1, 2015 at UP Health System Marquette as the result of an asthma attack.
Kathleen was born October 25, 1964 in Marquette to Matthew and Irene (Couture) Kennedy, attended Negaunee schools and was a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Northern Michigan University and worked for many years as a licensed practical nurse.
Kathleen was a lover of learning and an avid reader of both non-fiction and fiction. She also enjoyed traveling, playing board games with her children, and being in nature. One of her favorite places was Deer Lake in Au Train, which she had visited since childhood. Her family remembers Kathleen as a reflective and open-minded person who cared deeply for her family, friends and patients.
Surviving are her daughter, Kelsey (Nathan Gire) Kennedy of Fairfax, VA; son, Casey Kennedy of Negaunee; brothers: Francis “Buddy” and Danny Kennedy of Ishpeming, and John (Judith) Kennedy of Negaunee; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her close friend Mona Gordon.
Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 6th at Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Jarvis, UP Health System Marquette chaplain officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 4:00 pm until the time of services at 6:00 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will take place in Negaunee Cemetery.
