Joseph G. Pelletier, 75, of Ridge St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, September 24, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
Joe was born June 30, 1940 in Guerette, ME and grew up on the East Coast. He enlisted in the United States Air Force, and following his service to his country he was employed by Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. He also worked as a police officer with the Negaunee Police Department, and finally retired as a corrections officer from the Marquette Branch Prison. He also owned and operated his own saw sharpening business out of his home.
In his free time, Joe loved spending time with his buddies in his saw shop, especially on Friday evenings. He enjoyed listening to music, taking saunas, swimming in his pool, and was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Sheree (Symons) Pelletier; 3 sons: Robert (Paula Croschere) Pelletier of Negaunee, Pete (Sarah) Pelletier of CO and Ben Pelletier of Negaunee; 4 daughters: Ann (Leo Field) Pelletier of Negaunee; Dawn (Dan Postal) Pelletier of CO, Kim (Jim) Broadfoot and Penny Pelletier, both of Negaunee; 4 grandchildren: Kelsey, Tony, Madelyn and Mason Pelletier; his sister, Shirley (Clarence) Dubois of FL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Karen ‘Bubbles’ Pelletier in 1978; and a grandson, Donald Nyman.
A Celebration of Joe’s Life will be held from 12 noon until 2 pm on Tuesday, September 29th at the Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Joe’s memory to UPAWS, 84 Snowfield Rd., Negaunee, MI 49866.
