Mary A. DelAngelo
Negaunee
Mary A. DelAngelo, 86, of County Road, Negaunee, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side Thursday afternoon, May 28, 2015 at UP Health System Marquette.
Mary was born August 18, 1928 in Princeton to James and Seraphina (Federichi) Filizetti and graduated from Gwinn High School with her life-long friends Rena Koskey, Betty Thurston, Helvi Prusi and Jean Laituri. Following high school, Mary worked at the Ishpeming Gossard, Bannon’s Cleaners and had over 20 years of employment with Bell Memorial Hospital working in the laundry department. She was a dedicated employee.
On July 15, 1950, Mary and Charles ‘Carlo’ DelAngelo were united in marriage and celebrated 49 years together before his passing. Mary was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee where she enjoyed working funeral dinners and being part of the prayer chain. She was also a life member of the Negaunee VFW Auxiliary where she participated in serving at weddings. In her free time, she and Carlo loved spending time at their Charlie Lakes Camp, walking to daily Mass and following her grandchildren in all of their sporting events. She was their ‘best’ fan.
Surviving are her 2 children: Dennis (Kathy) DelAngelo of Negaunee and Deb (Dan) Manninen of Gladwin; 5 grandchildren: Andrew (Danielle) Manninen of Grand Haven, Adam (Bree) Manninen of Bozeman, MT, Lindsay (Brandon) Thompson of Ontario, NY, Chad (Thalicia Gray) DelAngelo and Chelsea DelAngelo, both of Negaunee; Mary was blessed with 2 great-grandchildren: Mabel Jane Manninen of Grand Haven and Logan Anthony Thompson of Ontario; a very special and dear sister-in-law, Pearl Filizetti of Gwinn; brother, Adolph ‘Jerry’ Filizetti of San Jose, CA; brother-in-law, Louie Polini of Santa Clara, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carlo in 1999; sisters: Gena Bucco and Gloria Polini; and brothers: John, Jay and Julio Filizetti.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2nd at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3pm until the time of Mass at 5pm at the church on Tuesday, and also at a dinner in the church gymnasium following Mass. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Paul Catholic Church Memorial Fund in Mrs DelAngelo’s memory.
Mary’s family would like to especially thank the caring staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center where she was a patient for over 2 ½ years along with the dedicated staff at UP Home Health and Hospice. “Our final thanks goes to our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Mary, for loving us all and taking such good care of our family.”
