John V. ‘Jack’ Koski

John Vernon ‘Jack’ Koski, 79, longtime resident of Maple St., Gwinn, passed away Monday afternoon, February 16, 2015 at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans.
Jack was born November 10, 1935 in Gwinn to John W. and Louise E. (Swanson) Koski, graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1953, and was a lifelong Gwinn resident. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served for 10 years during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Jack was then employed as a warehouseman at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
Mr. Koski was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Gwinn. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Detroit Lions, Tigers and Red Wings.
Surviving are 2 sisters: Gloria (Richard ‘Chic’) LaFave of Gwinn and Mary Lou (John) Hamm of Clearfield, KY; 3 brothers: William ‘Bill’ (Judy) Koski, Robert Koski and Paul (Betsy) Koski, all of Gwinn; an aunt, Marilyn Jarvi; nieces: Louise (Mark) Ingalls, Mary Beth (Tom) Armstrong, and Kris, Kim, Amy and Mary Koski; nephews: Richard P. (Melinda) LaFave, John P. (Kim) Hamm and Robert (Linda) Hamm; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn with Rev. Rell Spickerman officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 11:00 am until the time of services at 12:00 noon at the church on Friday. Burial will take place in the Gwinn Cemetery. The family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be directed to the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans Member Assistance Fund in Jack’s memory.
