He served in the United States Army for two tours during the Vietnam War beginning in August, 1963 until he was honorably discharged as a Captain Ranger in December, 1964. Following his service to his country, Dave held many jobs, but was employed most of his career with All-State Insurance, retiring as the District Manager. He moved to Negaunee in 1977.
Mr. Krause was a very active life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) and VA Romo Post #3165, VFW Negaunee. He was a proud, longtime friend of Bill W. and enjoyed his weekly Thursday coffee clutch at Buck’s Restaurant. Dave loved living on the Black River and spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, especially partial to fly fishing, and was able to enjoy his last fishing trip this past May. He was a voracious reader, always having a book in hand, and also loved to cook. In his younger years he enjoyed camping and deer hunting.
Surviving are his loving wife of nearly 19 years, Judith A. (Charbonneau) Krause; 4 sons: Jeffrey Krause of Negaunee, David Krause of Texas, Timothy (Brenda) Krause of Negaunee and James (Leslie) Pascoe of Virginia; 3 daughters: Karen Goodreau of Negaunee, Gretchen (David) Devroy of Marquette and Christine Pascoe of Negaunee; 14 grandchildren: Matthew Krause, Ashley Bartle, Abbey and Aubrey Goodreau, Gary, Courtney and Ben Devroy, Emma and Chloe Krause, Marina Krause, Alex and Miranda Pascoe and Carter and Payton Pascoe; 1 great-granddaughter, Payton Devroy and another great-granddaughter, Ellia Goodreau, on the way; 2 sisters: Susan Krause of Oscoda and DeeAnne (Dale) McGregor of Florida; special friends: Jim Massie, Rick Stetson, Gary ‘Surf’ Guibord, Martin Tremethick, Jeff Skewis, Mark DePlanche and Don Curto; his faithful companions: Simba and Zeppelin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
