Obituary for DAVID GARY ACKLEY

David G. Ackley
Negaunee
David Gary Ackley, 38, of Annex Rd., Negaunee, was called to The Lord unexpectedly on Saturday, August 30, 2014 surrounded by his family while living their love of camping.
David was born January 13, 1976 in Newberry to Gary and Brenda (Burns) Ackley. He grew up in the Newberry and Curtis areas until age 15 when he moved to Palmer. David was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of ’94, and shortly after began working as a truck driver for Enright. He worked the remainder of his career as a heavy equipment operator for Oberstar, and most recently MJ VanDamme, Inc.
Dave was a member of the Old Fashioned Baptist Church, Ishpeming. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, boating, four-wheeling, and camping. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and was also proud to be a ‘Hockey Dad.’ Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his ‘little loves.’
Surviving are his wife of 6 years, Rebecca (Betterly) Ackley; children, Caleb and Makenna Ackley; father, David (Diana) Ackley; mother, Brenda (Danny Hemminger) Ackley; brothers: Brent (Samantha) Ackley, Kevin Selby, and Justin Ackley; sister, LeighAnne Ackley Leveille; paternal grandfather, Lester Ackley; maternal grandfather, Robert Burns; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Donella Ackley; maternal grandmother, Beatrice Burns; and his twin baby girls.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 5th at the Old Fashioned Baptist Church, 321 S. 4th St., Ishpeming. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a memorial fund for Dave’s children set up at Range Bank
