Jean Corrine (Lakari) Riberdy, 76, died peacefully on April 30, 2013 at 6:50 a.m. in St. Johns, MI.
Jean was born on August 1, 1936 to Walter and Aino Lakari. She was raised in Palmer, MI and graduated from Negaunee High School. She further educated herself in the arts and religious studies. Jean had many roles in her life as a daughter, sister, wife, and mother but her most notable role was best revealed in her devotion to God. She made many sacrifices when she settled in to live the majority of her life in quiet solitude doing the things that brought her peace and joy. She loved listening to music, reading, cooking, shopping, watching Jeopardy on television, visits with her family, prayer, and studying the word of God. She demonstrated a strong and enduring faith every day until the moment of her death.
She is missed by her surviving children Renee Beth (Riberdy) LaFave of Lyons, MI and Michael Francis (Deborah) Riberdy of Round Mtn, NV, grandchildren Kristen Beth (LaFave) Mager of Lyons, MI and Mark Dale LaFave of Warren, MI, and great-grandchildren Nicole Renee Mager of Lyons, MI and Haley Breanne LaFave of Warren, MI.
Also surviving is her sister Diane (Robert) Austin of Green Bay, WI and brother John Lakari of Albuquerque, NM, an aunt, Irja Anderson of Marquette, MI and several nieces, nephews, and cousins across the country.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, infant brother, Daniel, and niece, Nadine (Lakari) Nault.
A graveside memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
