Obituary for RUBY DOUCETTE

Ruby (Montgomery) Doucette, born on September 25, 1948 in Datyon, Ohio, passed away on November 14, 2023 at the age of 75 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was brought into this world by the love of her parents, Thomas George Montgomery and Cleffie Ann Turner Montgomery.

Ruby made her journey from Ohio to Negaunee, Michigan where she met and married the love of her life Marvin Doucette on July 6, 1968. Ruby and Marvin were married for 46 years, and during their time on earth they raised two beautiful children that she loved with all her heart.

Ruby was a very loyal, hard-working, and delightful woman that put her heart in everything she did. Ruby was a wife and a homemaker, and then later worked for WLUC TV6, and finally retired from Eastwood Nursing Home in 2014. Ruby enjoyed getting her hands dirty in her garden, crocheting, sewing, and spending time in the sunshine at Wetmore’s Landing on Lake Superior. Ruby’s favorite place on earth was the Upper Pennisula of Michigan where she loved spending time with all her family and friends.

Ruby was predeceased by her father, Thomas and mother, Cleffie; four brothers and four sisters: Roger, Denver, Wanda, Rosie, Marietta, Dayrus, Maureen, and Donald; father-in law, Leo Doucette; mother-in-law, Mariam (Earl) Johnson; two brothers-in-law, Bobby and Donnie; one sister-in-law, Bonnie; a son-in-Law, Denny Vanzant; and one nephew and three nieces.

Ruby is survived by her sister, Sonia (Rex) Dalton; her son, Jon (Kirsten Kelly) Doucette; daughter, Tonia Vanzant; grandchildren: Alec (Jacqui) Vanzant, Alyssa Vanzant, Bailey Doucette, Calvin Doucette, Eleanore Doucette; one great grand-daughter, Ilana Vanzant; aunty, Joyce Larson; and many nieces, nephews and forever friends.

Ruby will rejoin her husband, Marvin at the Negaunee Cemetery, along with their best friends, Dennis (deceased) and Lynn Potila. There will be no services at this time, however a small graveside service for immediate family will be arranged at a later date.
