Obituary for ROBERT DEAN JUCHEMICH
Robert Dean ‘Bob’ Juchemich, 85, longtime Ely Township resident, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, May 21, 2023 at Eastwood Nursing Center.
Bob was born November 26, 1937, in Negaunee to Lester and Phyllis (Southey) Juchemich, attended Negaunee Public Schools, and was a lifelong area resident. He worked at Dunbrooks Cement before his career with Cliffs Natural Resources, where was worked as an operator at both the Mather ‘B’ and Tilden Mines, and was known by coworkers as ‘Squeakers’ or ‘Putt Putt’.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He also loved being around dogs, and was a wonderful storyteller.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda (Louis) Cevigney; four sons: Frank (Donna) Deneweth, and Jeff (Linda), Bruce (Cheryl) and Brian (Deb) Schultz; 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; his friend and neighbor, Gary Cain; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 38 years, June (Porter) Juchemich; his brothers, Larry and Lester Juchemich; and his lifelong friend, Douglas Palmer.
Bob’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff’s at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Eastwood Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, May 26th at Koskey Funeral Home in Negaunee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Bob’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
