Obituary for KAY BEACCO

Kay Beacco, 87, longtime Negaunee resident, entered eternal life Sunday afternoon, May 14, 2023 at Eastwood Nursing Center while in the care of her loving family.

Kay was born April 26, 1936 in Thomaston, MI to Wallace and Bertie (Powell) Porter, and graduated from Marquette Graveraet High School, Class of 1954. She married the late Louie Beacco in 1961, and was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family.

Mrs. Beacco was a longtime member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee.

Surviving are her children: Kerry (Gary) Klein, Michael (Wendy) Beacco, Anthony Beacco, four grandchildren: Sarah (Philip) Dix, Daniel (Theresa) Champion, Cory (Alex Correia) Champion, Elissa (Andrew) Macario, six great-grandchildren: Lydia and Louie Dix, Halle and May Macario, Isla and Marion Champion, a special family friend, Bill Barrette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Louie Beacco, two brothers: Douglas and Wallace “Butch” Porter, a sister, June Helmers, and a granddaughter, Rachael Beacco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 17th at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme and Monsignor Jed Patrick concelebrating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the start of Mass at 11:00 AM at the church on Wednesday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services in the St. Paul School Gymnasium. Pallbearers will be: Sarah Dix, Daniel Champion, Cory Champion, Elissa Macario, Gary Klein and Wendy Beacco. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Catholic Church Memorial Fund.

Kay’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staffs at Teal Lake Senior Living Community, Eastwood Nursing Center, and UP Home Health and Hospice, as well as Dr. Wayne Carlson, for their compassionate care provided.
