Obituary for JAMES RICHARD REED

James “Jimmy” Reed, 57, of Negaunee, passed away on Tuesday, April 25th after a workplace accident surrounded by his loving work family.

Jimmy was born on June 9th, 1965 to his late parents Leona Soulliere and Delbert Reed in Newberry. Jimmy loved the U.P. life and spent his time working at Superior Auto, enjoying life at camp in Forestville, and riding ATV’s and motorcycles. He had spent a lifetime working in the automotive industry. He had such a passion for his work and the fun that went along with it. Countless hours of shenanigans and laughing while doing things “Jimmy’s Way” with junk cars. Jimmy’s humor will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him. Anytime anything was brought to him that he wasn’t pleased with, the standard response was, “That sounds like a Monday thing.” Even with his humor, Jimmy was still depended on by his coworkers as a friend, trainer, and role model.

Jimmy is survived by several nieces and nephews. Although Jimmy did not have an abundance of blood related family members, he had a huge “work family,” many of which he has worked with for many years and he considered all of them family.

Services will be held at the Negaunee Township Hall on May 11th, 2023 from 4-7pm. The evening will be filled with stories and laughter shared about Jimmy in a “Celebration of Life” event. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please treat yourself to a relaxing evening with your closest friends sharing memories and stories of Jimmy.
