Obituary for STEPHEN JOSEPH HAROSKI Sr.

Stephen Joseph ‘Chatter’ Haroski, Sr., 69, of Maurice St., Ishpeming, passed away peacefully at his home early Monday morning, March 13, 2023, with his loving family at his side and under the care of Lake Superior Life Care & Hospice.

Stephen was born January 15, 1954 in Zion, Illinois to George Haroski and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Jandreau) Steede, and attended Negaunee Public Schools. He worked in the truck shop warehouse at the Empire Mine, retiring with over 33 years of service with Cleveland Cliffs. He married Joyce A. Larson on December 9, 1972, and together they raised their family in Ishpeming.

In his spare time, he enjoyed pitching horseshoes, hunting, and loved the music of Elvis Pressley. Steve was also an avid fan of NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. Steve loved his family dearly, and cherished time spent with them.

Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Joyce Haroski; his son, Stephen ‘Chatter’ Haroski, Jr. of Ishpeming; his daughter, Leslie Phillips of Ishpeming; a special nephew who he thought of as a son, Gary ‘Yutti’ Vidlund; two grandchildren, Camron (Marissa) Rice and Rachael (Justin) Haroski-Phillips; his brothers, William ‘Peanuts’ (Julie) Haroski and Kevin (Rita) Haroski; two sisters, Jackie (Carol) Haroski and Kimmy (John) Raish; brother-in-law, Josh (Debbie) Larson; sisters-in-law: Norma Larson, Vickie (Nick) LaMere and Pam (Gary) Belongia; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, William ‘Butch’ Steede; sisters, Debbie and Doris; father and mother-in-law, Don and Beatrice Larson; and brother-in-law, Roland Larson

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM on Saturday, March 18th at Koskey Funeral Home, Negaunee. A luncheon will be held immediately following at the Negaunee Eagles.
