Obituary for THOMAS COLE FREDERICKSON

Thomas Cole ‘Tom’ Frederickson, 42, of Negaunee, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 2, 2023 at his home.

Tom was born January 24, 1981 in Ishpeming to Douglas and Jean (Miljour) Frederickson and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1999. He married Krystal McClaren on July 22, 2012 and together they were raising their family in Negaunee.

Tom was employed as a millwright with the Carpenters and Millwrights Local Union 1510 and also recently acquired his real estate license, working with Northern Michigan Land Brokers. Aside from belonging to Local Union 1510, Tom was also a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee and the City of Negaunee Planning Commission.

Tom enjoyed the outdoors, being at camp, fishing and snowmobiling. He loved helping with kids’ sports, especially coaching softball. He had a true passion for instilling the love of the game in his children and other kids in the community. More than anything, Tom was a devoted husband and father; his greatest pride was caring for his family.

Surviving are his parents; his loving wife of 10 years, Krystal Frederickson; three daughters: Miya, Bailey and Mila; his son, Ethan; his sister, Sarah (Gale) Bott and their children, Ramsey and Arden; mother- and father-in-law, Denise McClaren and Bill McClaren; sisters-in-law: Kim (Gordon) Lewis and her son, Brody; and Nicole (Joshua) Warth; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Florence Miljour; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Jean Frederickson; and brother-in-law, Todd Kurian.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 10th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 am until 11:45 am at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon in the St. Paul Gymnasium immediately following Mass. Pallbearers will be Gale Bott, Philander Steward, Laura Parke, Luke Miljour, Dan Hakkarainen and Tony Jacobetti. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Embers Credit Union in Negaunee for a scholarship to be established for Tom’s children.
