Alice Fay Lummukka, 82, longtime Negaunee resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 22, 2023, at Norlite Nursing Center.
Alice was born August 18, 1940, in Negaunee to George and Irene (Dower) Dompierre. She graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1958, and was a lifelong area resident. After high school, Alice moved to Illinois where she worked in a candy factory. Shortly after being married in 1963, she and her husband moved back to the Upper Peninsula where she worked as a pharmacy technician at Johnson’s Drug Store in Ishpeming and later at Snyder’s Drug Store in Negaunee.
Mrs. Lummuka was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee where she served the church faithfully for years as a volunteer, Sunday School teacher, and singer in the church choir
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading books, watching football and basketball, and working on crafts. Alice was happiest when spending time with her family laughing, playing cards, and living in the moment. Alice’s funny and clever wit will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving is her loving husband of 59 years, Marvin E. Lummukka; her son, Gregory (Kara) Lummukka of Dexter, MO; and grandchildren, Ian and Dax Lummukka also of Dexter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Wilfred Dompierre; and sisters, Darla Dompierre and Lorna Hiller.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 6th at the Negaunee Cemetery, with Michael Holman, LLM, officiating.
