Obituary for ALICE ELIZABETH WARD
Alice Elizabeth (Rice) Ward, 76, of Ishpeming, passed away peacefully Monday evening, February 20, 2023 at UP Health System Marquette.
Alice was born May 8, 1946 in Ishpeming to Albert and Margaret (O’Dette) Rice and was raised in Negaunee where she attended school. Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, she worked at Ecklund Laundry, the Red Onion Pasty Shop and also at JC Penney in Ishpeming.
Alice loved her coffee clutch time at her home with her family, friends and neighbors. More than anything, she cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Rick (Darlene) Rice of Ishpeming; daughter, Michelle Gray of Ishpeming Township; four grandchildren: Derrick and Devin Rice, and Thalicia (Chad) DelAngelo and Tayler Gray; two great-grandchildren: Aleah Larson and Teigen DelAngelo; step-daughter, Kathy (Michael) Swanson of DePere, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kaarlo Ward, in 2014; four brothers and seven sisters.
Alice’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at UP Health System Marquette ICU for the wonderful care provided.
Graveside services will be held at a later date, and will be announced by Koskey Funeral Home.
