Marie D. Jacobetti, 99, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 5, 2023 at Mill Creek Assisted Living.

Marie was born October 17, 1923 in Champion to George and Leona (Carriere) Burnette, grew up in Champion and graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1941. She was united in marriage to the late Dominic J. Jacobetti on February 7, 1942 and together they raised their family in Negaunee.

Marie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, a talented cook and baker, and an avid supporter for her children and grandchildren during their academic and sporting careers. Marie enjoyed watching college basketball, especially Duke University, as well as crocheting, knitting, an occasional trip to the casino, and loved playing BINGO.

Surviving are her children: Judith (Eugene) Furey of Crystal Lake, IL, Colin (Paulette) Jacobetti of Iron Mountain and Dominic ‘Dukey’ (Sharleen ‘Sis’ Bianchi) Jacobetti, Jr. of Negaunee; 11 grandchildren: Michael Furey, Lisa Furey and Steven (Jamie) Furey, Colette (Gerard) Choryan, Lora (Kurt) Dynek, Colin (Lorrie) Jacobetti and Shelly (Michael) Weeks, Dominic (Lisa) Jacobetti, III, Tony (Danielle) Jacobetti, Julie (Jeff Dauphinais) Jacobetti and Traci Jacobetti; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dominic in 1994; brother, Leslie Burnette; and two sisters, June Johnson and Beatrice Duhame.

Honoring Marie’s wishes, private family services will be held prior to entombment at Northland Chapel Gardens. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at a later date and will be announced. Memorial contributions may be directed in Marie’s memory to the ‘NMU Foundation’ to support the D.J. Jacobetti Education Scholarship at Northern Michigan University, and/or UP Home Health and Hospice.
