Judith Anne Jarvi, 74, of Negaunee Township, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, January 9, 2023 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.
Judy was born May 21, 1948 in Ishpeming to Charles and Ernestine (Forchini) Gravedoni, grew up in North Lake and graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1965. She married the late Paul ‘PJ’ Jarvi on June 26, 1965 and celebrated 50 years together.
Judy and PJ were true farmers living on their farm they apply named ‘Green Acres.’ Judy loved her family and she loved animals. She fed deer, turkeys, and everything else in between right down to chickadees and chipmunks. She was professional at knitting and crocheting and made countless hats, scarfs and afghans for her famly.
Mrs. Jarvi was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee and the Superior Model ‘A’ Club. She drove her own 1930 Ford Model ‘A.’ From time-to-time, Judy loved sharing a glass of wine with her special friend, Charlene Hill.
Surviving are her daughter, Lisa (Bill Anderson, Jr.) Petersen of Negaunee Township; five brothers: Charles ‘Clark’ (Patricia), Joseph (Charlotte), Paul (Peggy) Gravedoni, all of Negaunee, William (Suann) of Ishpeming and Daniel Gravedoni of Negaunee; sisters-in-law, Sandra (James) Luoma of Chassell and Lois (Larry) Kallioinen of Negaunee; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Paul in 2015; brothers: James, Gerald and two infant brothers; sisters: Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Herman, Adele Hintsala and Mildred Perry; and brothers-in-law, Albert Herman, Jr., James Perry, Arnold Hintsala and Lloyd Jarvi.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 12th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to the Mass at church on Thursday.
