Obituary for DORIS MARIE WAINIO
Doris Marie Wainio, 74, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 24, 2022 at UP Health System in Marquette.
Doris was born March 14, 1948 in Ishpeming and was raised in Republic by her parents Bernhardt and Tyne (Niemi) Maki. She graduated from Republic-Michigamme Schools. Doris married the late Michael D. Wainio and together they raised their family in Negaunee. She was employed as a caregiver for Pathways and also provided in-home health care.
Mrs. Wainio was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Negaunee Eagles. She was an avid reader who loved her family, friends and her dogs, Chico and Zoey.
Surviving are her son, Terry Wainio of Negaunee; two grandchildren: Luukas and Michael J. Wainio; sister-in-law, Judy Taskila; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Michael in 2003; son, Michael A. Wainio; an infant daughter; three brothers: Walter, Reino and Charlie Hendrickson; and her sister, Nancy Phillips.
Interment will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
