Obituary for MARIE LUCILLE VIOLETTA (Suardini)

Marie Lucille (Suardini) Violetta, 76, passed away peacefully in her home with her husband by her side on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Marie was born in Ishpeming on July 25th, 1946, to Barney and Teresa (Gagliardi) Suardini, where she was raised and graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1964. A year later, she married the love of her life, Arlin “Buzz” Violetta on August 14, 1965.

Marie spent numerous hours in the kitchen. She was known for her cooking and baking; however, baking was her passion and many of the baked goods that came out of her kitchen satisfied the taste buds and requests of her family, friends, and people in the community. There is a high chance most people have enjoyed the deliciousness of her signature cakes because she baked and decorated countless cakes for weddings and events throughout the years.

Marie was a selfless and giving woman and welcomed anyone and everyone into her home and always made room for more at her table. She was a natural hostess and loved to entertain. Her wittiness and sarcasm made her dinner parties and cocktail parties a hit and memorable for those present. Marie’s selflessness extended beyond her family and friends. Volunteering for St. Vincent DePaul for several years brought her enjoyment and gratification knowing she touched the lives of many people she didn’t even know. She enjoyed numerous activities and was an avid reader, loved playing cards, and socializing with her many friends.

Above all, her family was most important. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy and a sense of purpose. She loved following her grandchildren in their extracurricular activities or just sitting and having conversations with them about life.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arlin ‘Buzz’; her sons, Anthony (Kay) Violetta and Brett (Debbie) Violetta; her daughter, Lisa Violetta; her four grandchildren: A.J. and Jack Violetta and Nicole and Neal Violetta; one great-grandson, Dominic Kamper; her siblings: Fran (Bernie) Sikorski, Sharon Suardini and Bernie (Margo) Suardini; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as a multitude of friends who became family, especially Heather Kamper.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her in-laws; as well as her lifelong best friend, Karina Mann.

Honoring Marie’s wishes, no public services will be held.
