Obituary for ROGER ALLAN MELKA

Roger Allan Melka, 70, of Ishpeming, passed away Thursday morning, November 3, 2022 at the Trillium Hospice House in Marquette while in the care of his loving family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Roger was born May 15, 1952 in Ishpeming to Roy and Rose (Smith) Melka and was a lifelong area resident. He attended Negaunee Public Schools where he eventually worked in maintenance, retiring in 2006 with 32 years of service.

Roger was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed working with his hands. He played the guitar and loved music, especially Elvis Presley. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed John Wayne and western movies. In his younger years, he liked being outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his two sons, Jesse (Lisa) Melka of Negaunee Township and Christopher Melka of Oregon; three sisters: Patricia (Clark) Gravedoni of Negaunee, Linda Roberts of Champion, and his twin sister, Susan Maki of Negaunee; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Melka; and sister, Sharon Melka.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 pm on Thursday, November 10th at Koskey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s memory to the Trillium Hospice House.
