Obituary for LARRY D. ARGALL

Larry D. ‘Wads’ Argall, 66, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, September 8, 2022 at UP Health System Marquette with his loving family at his side.

Larry was born July 3, 1956 in Ishpeming to Richard and Marilyn (Ronquist) Argall, graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1974 and was a lifelong area resident. He continued his education at Northern Michigan University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting in 1977. He then worked for his brother, Paul Argall, CPA prior to becoming the longtime owner and operator of Argall Makosky Decaire, PC, where he was a Certified Public Accountant, retiring in 2010. Larry married Heidi Thompson on July 8, 1978, and together they raised their two daughters in Negaunee.

Mr. Argall was a member of the Michigan Association of CPA’s, Negaunee Irontown Association, was a life member of the Negaunee Historical Society, CUPSFA, Negaunee Elks Lodge, and sat on the Bell Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors hunting and fishing, reading, traveling to Maui, HI and playing cribbage. His favorite place was the family camp on Petticoat Lake, where countless memories were made.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Heidi (Thompson) Argall of Negaunee; his mother, Marilyn Anderson of Ishpeming; two daughters, Alison Argall of Negaunee and Colleen (Joel Wilks) Argall of Australia; four grandchildren: Courtney Argall, Christopher Miller, Nicholas Miller and Liam Wilks; his brother, Gerald (Shirley) Argall; father-in-law, Robert C. Thompson; sisters-in-law, Cathy Argall and Melanie (Randy) Johnson; brothers-in-law, Robert D. (Gail) Thompson and Dan (Claudia) Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Argall; step-father, Robert Anderson; and his brother, Paul Argall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 15th at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the start of Mass at Noon at the church on Thursday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the Negaunee Elks Lodge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Larry’s memory to a charity of your choice.
