Steven Vincent ‘Vince’ Villa, 64, of Fence River Road, Republic Township, passed away peacefully at home, his ‘happy camp,’ early Thursday morning, May 19, 2022 in the care of his loving daughters following a three-week battle with leukemia.
Vince was born February 4, 1958 and raised in Negaunee by parents Vincent J. ‘Pancho’ and Claire Kathleen ‘Skippy’ (Koskey) Villa. He was a graduate of Negaunee High School and later earned his HVAC certification from Northern Michigan University. Vince began his career for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company, working at numerous properties for seven years. He then worked at Northern Michigan University in maintenance and mechanical departments, retiring in 2010.
Surviving are his mother, Skippy Villa of Negaunee; two daughters, Jaime (Lyle) Warner of Ishpeming and Lindsey Ringuette of Negaunee; grandchildren: Amelia McCormick, Nolan and Emma Ringuette, Joe and Andrew Warner; great-granddaughter, Dawn Warner; sister, Julie (Brent) Nault of Negaunee and their children, Tyler and Tony Nault; brother, Paul Villa of Negaunee; sister-in-law, Amy (Debby) Braun and son, Dr. Ian Smith; his former wife, Nancy Irish, her children, Anna and Jesse Burnett, and their foreign exchange daughter, Bim Promsawad of Thailand; and numerous cousins and friends.
Vince was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Kim (Smith) Villa.
A Celebration of Life and luncheon will be held from 1-3 pm on Saturday, May 28th at the Negaunee Eagle’s Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in his memory to Lake Superior Hospice.
