Obituary for ALEXANDER LOUIS GUIZZETTI

Alexander Louis Guizzetti, 87, of Ely Township, entered eternal life early Tuesday morning, May 10, 2022 at the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in the loving, comforting care of his daughter, granddaughter and Jacobetti staff.

Alex was born May 2, 1935 in Ishpeming to Alexander Peter and Elvira (Zagenelli) Guizzetti, was raised in Negaunee and graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1953.

He worked in the family business, Northern Tile and Terrazzo at various times, became a Golden Gloves Boxer, and honorably served in the United States Air Force building and maintaining communications equipment. After breaking his neck in a work accident, he worked for NMU maintaining shop buildings and building his dream home with his own two hands, lots of beer and help from friends. As bad luck would have it, he broke his neck a second time in 2011.

Alex was always a fighter and fought his way back from injuries and, until the end, he happily spent his days living in the home he loved thanks to his caregivers, especially Courtney and Makayla. He was gregarious and kind.

Surviving are his daughter, Kelly; granddaughter, Isabelle; brother, Rodney (Lois) Guizzetti; and a host of family and friends, near and far. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven; and brother, Louie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, May 13th at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Alex’s memory to the DJ Jacobetti Home for Vets Activity Fund, 425 Fisher St., Marquette, MI 49855.
