Darlene Joyce Juchemich, 81, lifelong Negaunee resident, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 22, 2022 at home in the loving and comforting care of her family.
Darlene was born July 23, 1940 in Negaunee, Michigan to George and Lilly (Anderson) Uitto and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1958. Darlene was employed as a legal secretary, working for numerous local law firms until her retirement in the late 1980’s. Following her husband’s retirement in the early 1990’s, the two built a custom log cabin in Ralph, Michigan where they lived for many years with their daughter, Tami. Darlene’s special interests included crocheting, knitting, gardening and spending time with loved ones in the great outdoors.
Surviving are two sons: Scott (Renee) Juchemich of Ishpeming and Steven (Becky) Juchemich of Negaunee; two daughters: Tami-Jo Juchemich and Tricia (Greg) Montgomery, both of Negaunee; six grandchildren: Austin and Hallie Juchemich, Ashely (Josh) and Dylan Juchemich, Dustin (Justine) and Brooke (Jessica) Montgomery; three great-granddaughters: Lilie, Hailo and Rory, with another expected in May 2022; a sister, Sharon (Dan) Helenius of Negaunee Township; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 52 years, Frank; and sister, Anne Neumann.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of UPHS – Bell and UP Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care during this difficult time.
