Clarence Clyde Nyman, Sr., 89, of County Road, Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 20, 2022, in the care of his loving family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Clarence was born January 6, 1933 in Munising to Frank and Lempi (Maki) Nyman and attended Eben area schools. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1953. While in the service he married Lorraine Ward in Arbutus, Maryland, on December 27, 1952. Following his service to his country, he worked numerous jobs before settling in Marquette County and beginning his career with Cleveland Cliffs. He retired in 1995 from the Empire Mine as a production truck driver.

In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and spent many years camping with his wife. He was a gifted handyman, always working with his hands and making home improvements. Clarence was always willing to help out whether you were family, friend or neighbor. He was an avid Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and the Detroit Lions fan. Clarence also loved animals and had many pets over the years.

Surviving are his two sons, Clyde (Sue) Nyman of Ishpeming and David (Barbara) Nyman of Little Chute, WI; two daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Paulson of Negaunee Township and Carol (Kenny) Maddock of Champion; four grandchildren: Brooke (Bret Lawrence) Nyman, Shane (Tracy) Nyman, Stacie (Taylor) Willis and Markus (Melanee) Maddock; great grandson, Arlo Maddock; his brother, Rudolph (Jean) Nyman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Lorraine Nyman in 2011; his brother, Harold Nyman; and infant brother, Henry Nyman.
