Obituary for MELISSA ANNE LARSON-ANDERSON

Melissa Anne Larson-Anderson, 63, of Stratofort St., Gwinn, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, with her loving husband at her side.

Melissa was born July 20, 1958 in Ishpeming to Rudolph Eugene and Selda (Ahtonen) Larson and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1976. She continued her education at both Northern Michigan University and Mason County Community College. She was a loving and devoted homemaker to her family, and was a willing and able helping hand to anyone who needed it. She lovingly took care of her parents and father-in-law in their later years.

Mrs. Anderson was an active and devout member of Community Lutheran Church, Suomi Location, where she previously sat on the church council, was a former council secretary, and was a Sunday School teacher. Melissa was always active outside of the home, having been involved in the Manistee County Council on Ageing and was instrumental in the start of the Manistee County Humane Society. Her interest in community involvement continued when her family returned the Marquette County area in 1995, when she became active in Boy Scout Troop #346 in Negaunee Township.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitch and going on hikes with her beloved dogs. She was also an excellent cook.

Surviving are her beloved husband of over 41 years, Clyde Anderson; her children, Abbey and Corey Anderson; her brother, Eugene Larson; a sister, Sharon (Richard) Dunn; several special nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; special friend, Chris LaFave; her beloved dog, Maya; and her extended family at Community Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Donald Larson; her sister, Ann (John) Cass; and an infant brother.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 20th at Community Lutheran Church, Suomi, with Virginia Paulson officiating. The family will greet friends from 10:30 AM unit the start of services at Noon at the church on Friday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the Richmond Township Hall in Palmer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Melissa's memory to Community Lutheran Church or UPAWS.
