Obituary for GERRY PILLOW

Gerry Lynn (Tammelin) Pillow, 65, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 4, 2022 at her sister’s home in Ishpeming while in the care of her loving family and Lake Superior Hospice.

Gerry was born July 4, 1956 in Ishpeming to Vilho and Norma (Robare) Tammelin, and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1974. She worked several years at Wisconsin Bearing and the Villa Capri before continuing her education at Northern Michigan University where earned her LPN degree. She was employed as an LPN for over 30 years at Marquette General Hospital and UP Health System Marquette, just recently retiring in November, 2021. Gerry was loved and respected by many co-workers and friends. She was always positive and had a smile on her face, and had an upbeat attitude even while battling cancer for over six years. She could be counted on at any time.

She valued her family and friends the most in life. She enjoyed traveling, going to camp, rummaging with friends and family for numerous treasures she found over the years, Christmas music, eating out, and of course working! Everyone knew if help was needed and Gerry had the day off, just give her a call and she will come in. Her work ethic was through the roof.

Surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Pillow; her sisters: Diana (Paul) Sandstrom, Karen Tammelin, Debbie (Bob) Rowe and Terri Beaudin; her brother, Allan Tammelin; brother-in-law, Jim Farley; nieces and nephews: Paul, Bob, Brett, Michelle, Johnny, Mike, Jerry, Terry Lynn, Louis, Jamie and Amy; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Peggy Farley; brother-in-law, Louis Beaudin; and a nephew, Kristopher Tammelin.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, January 10th at Koskey Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Peterson of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Champion, officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30am until the start of services at Noon at the funeral home on Monday, and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Negaunee, fellowship hall.
