Obituary for CAROLYN MARIE ANDERSON (Holman)

Carolyn M. Anderson, 82, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 3, 2022 at UP Health System Marquette following a serious illness.

Carolyn was born October 29, 1939 in Ishpeming to Clifton ‘Kip’ and Betty (Emmons) Holman and graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1958. Following graduation, she married Ronald Eiler Anderson and together they raised their three sons in North Lake until Ronald’s untimely passing in 1976.

Carolyn later partnered with Glendon Neidholdt and spent several years over the road trucking. They were very successful in gaining their own fleet of trucks and settling in Joplin, Missouri. They later married in Joplin and she became step-mother to Glendon’s three sons: Todd, Lonnie and Tim; and has three ‘Joplin grandchildren’: Trace and Grayson from her sons in Joplin, and Michael from her daughter-in-law, Michelle Orton.

Carolyn returned to Michigan in 2019 to spend the remaining years of her life at the family camp on the Dead River Basin. She loved watching the baby ducks start out each spring, fawns wandering in the yard or on the beach, and watching a rain storm roll in over the hills in the distance.

Surviving are her son, Kurt (Jocelyn) Anderson, of Ishpeming; her grandchildren: Jennifer, Ronald (Heather), Jared and Kurtie; her sisters, Joy and Patty Holman; a son-in-law, Mark Nardi; a nephew, Christopher Holman; and her great niece, Amanda Holman.

In addition, she is survived by her 1995 Costa Rican exchange student ‘granddaughter’, Eileen Rojas, who with her children, Bryan and Joyce Cordoba, have remained as her family for 27 years, calling her at least once a week and visiting whenever possible.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands, Ronald Anderson and Glendon Neidholdt; her daughter, Deborah Wood; and two sons, Randy (Lois) Anderson and Michael Anderson.

Honoring Carolyn’s wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
