Obituary for MARGARET LUCILLE LARSON (Miljour)

Margaret Lucille Larson, 93, longtime Suomi Location resident, entered eternal life Thursday afternoon, December 30, 2021 at UP Health System in Marquette.

Margaret was born April 17, 1928 in Perkins to George and Alvina (Everard) Miljour and at age eight moved to Suomi Location. She graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1945. Aside from being a devoted homemaker to her family, Margaret also worked for a short time at Norlite Nursing Center.

Mrs. Larson was a devout member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Palmer and also St. Michael Parish in Marquette while residing at Snowberry Heights the last few years. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was an excellent baker and her pies were a treat. Margaret loved being together at the family camp on Pike Lake and the hunting camp on Missouri Road, where she held the title ‘Camp Manager.’ She was devoted to her family and cherished time spent with her loved ones.

Surviving are her four daughters: Zita (Bruce) Anderson and Jane (Dan) Iery, both of Suomi Location, Mary Payment of Marquette and Joan (Mike) Terzaghi of Gwinn; two sons: Dean (Susan) and Lyle (Darlene) Larson, both of Suomi Location; 25 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John W. Larson in 1997; her son, John L. Larson in 1966; two grandsons: Bruce Anderson, Jr. in 1989 and Todd Anderson in 2016; a granddaughter, Kristen Juidici in 2008; five brothers: Vernon, George, Robert, Francis and James Miljour; six sisters: Theresa Barabe, Bernice Korpi, Rosalie Hyttinen, Eleanor Goldsworthy, Ann Miljour and Sister Helen Miljour; and a son-in-law, Mike Payment.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:30 pm on Tuesday, January 4th at Koskey Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday at St. Michael Parish in Marquette with Rev. Greg Heikkila and Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will also greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am at the church on Wednesday. Immedieately following Mass, a luncheon will be held in the church parish center. Burial will take place in the Negaunee Cemetery.
