Obituary for WILLIAM LEE KENNEDY
William Lee Kennedy, 78, of Negaunee Township, passed away at home Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Bill was born November 7, 1942 in Crystal Falls to Eugene and Celia (Holmes) Kennedy. He graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1961 and was a lifelong area resident. He continued his education at Michigan Technological University before being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart and was discharged as 1st Lieutenant. Following his honorable service to his country, he returned to Michigan Tech where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Bill worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Champagne, IL, before returning home where he worked numerous years for the civil service at KI Sawyer Air Force Base from where he retired.
In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching, playing cards, and most importantly hosting his family at home.
Surviving are his daughter, Stephanie Kennedy and her husband, John Colapinto of Red Lion, PA; his grandson, David Gott of Kenosha, WI and his children, Cameron and Luna; his sister, Evelyn Stanaway of Ishpeming; brother, Patrick (Sharon) Kennedy of Negaunee; step-children: Crystal Monday, Jamie Brown and Thomas Glass; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers: Donald, Gilbert and Robert ‘Bud’ Kennedy.
