Obituary for CLIFFORD G. WATERS

Clifford G. ‘Kip’ Waters, of Cedar St., Negaunee, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 30, 2021 at Mill Creek Assisted Living, five days after the passing of his beloved wife of 67 years, Marguerite (Johnson) Waters.

Kip was born January 17, 1929 in Negaunee to William and Laura (Williams) Waters and graduated from Negaunee High School. He worked in the local iron mines for Jones and Laughlin, and retired from Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company.

Cliff was the Upper Peninsula representative for the Michigan United Conservation Club (MUCC) for many years. In his spare time, he loved hunting and fishing, and was very active in Ducks Unlimited and the White Tails Club.

Surviving are his daughter, Susan Waters of Marquette; his son, James Waters of Negaunee; two grandchildren, Neil Waters and Katherine Waters; and sister-in-law, Janice Schendel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Marguerite ‘Midge’ on October 25, 2021; and his siblings.

Memorial services celebrating the lives of both Kip and Marguerite were held on Tuesday, November 2nd at Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, with Pastor Michael Holman officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed in Kip’s memory to Lake Superior Hospice, Bethany Lutheran Church, Negaunee, or to your local public library.
