Obituary for ALLEGHENY GWEN "Allie" BECKER
After 6 hard fought years with metastatic breast cancer, Allegheny (Allie) Gwen Becker, age 43, of Negaunee, MI (formerly of Elk Rapids, MI, and Murfreesboro, TN) passed away on October 14, 2021. Allie was a loving mother of two, Josie and Emelio, and wife of 14 years to Blake Becker.
Allie lived a life of radical love. While it is impossible to measure her impact, she was known for supporting refugee families recently relocated to the US; contributing to the local homeless shelters; starting a “Thursday Table” in front of her house with necessary supplies free to anyone - from diapers and canned goods to dog food; she was an organizer and participant in many anti-hate campaigns, including Murfreesboro Loves, Black Lives Matter, and LGBTQ+ Pride Month; she was a dedicated member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Murfreesboro. She also had a long career in environmentalism.
Allie is survived by her parents Dave and Ginny MacDonald; her siblings: Spree (Tsibishi) MacDonald, Alden MacDonald, Morgain MacDonald, their families; and too many friends and found family to name. She lived a beautiful life and made this world a better place. May we all live our lives as fully as Allie did.
