Obituary for BRYAN SCOTT HERMAN
Bryan Scott Herman, 64, of Plano, TX., passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 28, 2021.
Bryan was born November 21, 1956 in Ishpeming to Frederick Joseph and Doris (Scott) Herman, and graduated from Negaunee High School, class of 1974.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served for four years in communications. Following his service to his country, he went to work for CCI from 1977 to 1981. Following a layoff, he moved to Columbus, OH, where he attended the Ohio Institute of Technology. After graduating with honors, Bryan moved to Texas where he was employed with Raytheon for 20 years, then IBM for a short time, and then back to Raytheon where he was still employed.
He loved space and technology. He was a great story teller and loved to make people laugh. He was also an avid runner, having run 10-12 miles a day, as well as completing a full 26-mile marathon.
He loved to travel and visited many countries, but his favorite place to visit was home, here in the UP. When he was home, he loved to spend time at Teal Lake, Lake Superior, Marquette Mountain and all of his old stomping grounds in Negaunee. He also loved to see all the birch trees and the beautiful fall colors. He enjoyed running into old friends and all the friendly people of the UP.
Bryan adored his beautiful, sweet wife, Sookyung and was always so patient and gentle with her, helping her master the English language.
His only child, Andrew, was his entire world. While Andrew was growing up, Bryan never missed a sporting event that he was involved in and they traveled many places together. He will hold those beautiful memories close to his heart.
Surviving is his beautiful wife, Sookyung Herman; his loving son, Andrew Herman, both of Plano, TX; his father, Frederick Joseph Herman of Ishpeming; his brother, Steven J. (Julie) Herman of Negaunee; his twin sister, Susan (Clyde) Nyman of Ishpeming; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Bryan was preceded in death by his mother.
He will be forever missed.
