Jaelyn was born January 30, 1997 in Iron Mountain to Jon Allen and Kay Louise (Koskey) Jennings and graduated from Kingsford High School, Class of 2015. During her battle with cancer, she graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2019. Jaelyn’s desire was to pursue a career in medicine, but was unable to realize this dream due to her illness. She was a warrior during her battle with cancer and touched many of her caregivers with her positive attitude and determination, despite the numerous challenges she faced.
Jaelyn was an avid sports fan, as a participant and spectator. In her younger years, she was active in soccer, basketball, tennis and track, earning numerous awards and honors. Later, she enjoyed running, and was proud to have completed the Green Bay half-marathon in 2018. She followed her beloved Michigan Wolverines and Green Bay Packers, and loved cheering them on in the Big House, Crisler Center, Yost Arena, and of course Lambeau field. Her hobbies also included reading and traveling. After her graduation from Michigan, she traveled to Greece, Italy, and France, Boston, New Orleans, and Harpers Ferry, WV. She loved her UP roots, was proud to call herself a Yooper, and always enjoyed coming home to Kingsford and visiting the two family camps in Three Lakes, MI.
Surviving are her parents, Jon and Kay of Kingsford; brother, Lucas of Kingsford; her “boys” - soul mate, Collin Ulvund of Naperville and their beloved dog Cash; paternal grandmother, Beverly Jennings of Negaunee; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many special lifetime friends. Jaelyn was truly loved by so many because of her kind and caring demeanor – described aptly as “being all rainbows and smiles”, as well as her positive, driven attitude. She impacted many lives and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, William ‘Bill’ Jennings; maternal grandparents, Robert and Rena (Juidici) Koskey; and her uncle, Jason Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 - 6:00 pm CST (4-7pm EST) on Sunday, May 23rd at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home, 901 Carpenter Ave, Iron Mountain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am CST (12 noon EST) on Monday, May 24th at American Martyrs Catholic Church in Kingsford with Rev. Joseph Gouin officiating.
