Obituary for WILLIAM LOUIS MAKI

William Louis Maki, 79, of Forge Road, Negaunee Township, passed away at home Saturday evening, May 15, 2021 in the care of his loving family.

Bill was born November 6, 1941 in Ishpeming to William O. and Mary P. (Pezzotti) Maki, graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1959, and was a lifelong area resident. He was the longtime co-owner and operator of Colorvision, and Audio Visual Center in Marquette.

Mr. Maki was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, and the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, gardening and hunting. He was a very talented builder, having built both his home and his camp on Helen Lake.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 26 years, Diane (Sleeman) Maki; six children: Scott Maki of Grand Rapids, Mark (Caroline) Maki of Vicksburg, MI, Beth (Mark) Champion of Green Bay, Gina (Michael) Onderak of Crystal Falls, Kenneth (Sara) Bjork of Ishpeming and Shelly (David Falls) Bjork of Randville; mother-in-law, Cecile Sleeman; 16 grandchildren: Sydney, Toni, Kristina, Tyler, Kyle, Lindsey, Brad, Cecilia, Gavin, Michael, Annie, Alyssa, Fara, Hudson, Vivian and Owen; a sister, Rosalee Holmi; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Maki; father-in-law, Richard Sleeman; and brother-in-law, John Holmi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 19th at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday.
