Obituary for THOMAS G. CHAUDIER

Thomas Gerald Chaudier, 70, of Lake St., Negaunee, passed away Monday afternoon, April 26, 2021 at his home.

Tom was born July 1, 1950 in Hancock to John and Gladys (Liimatainen) Chaudier, attended school in the L’Anse area, and married Karen A. Joki in 1971. They relocated their family to Negaunee in 1975, where they raised their three children. Tom worked in maintenance for the Marquette Area Public Schools, retiring in 2001 after 20 plus years of service with the district. He also worked in auto body repair in various local repair shops.

In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, going to hunting camp with his brother-in-law, ‘Aug’, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. He had a big heart and was always willing to help anybody, from his closest friends to complete strangers. Above all, he loved his children and grandchildren, always following their academic and athletic careers.

Surviving are his loving wife of over 50 years, Karen Ann Chaudier; two sons, Tom (Allyson) of Omaha, NE and Kurt (Alissa) Chaudier of Negaunee; his daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Magnusson of McMillan; seven grandchildren: Sydney and Samantha Chaudier, Nathan and Joshua Magnusson, Emmeline, Graisen and Adelaide Chaudier; four brothers: John (Jackie), Joe (Doris), David (Jean) and Bill (Paige) Chaudier; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Dennis, Durwyn and Fred Chaudier; and two sisters, Marlene Young and Mary Richard.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Koskey Funeral Home, Negaunee from 10:00 am until 12 noon on Monday, May 3rd and will be followed by a private family memorial service, with his son, Tom officiating. In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, masks and social distancing policies will be followed.
