Obituary for MICHAEL EDWIN ADAMS

The final whistle blew way too early for Mike Adams, 67, on March 7, 2021 in Lakeland, FL.

Mike was born February 16, 1954 in Wiltshire, England to Janet and Herbert Adams. Mike's life was deeply influenced by his "Gwinn godfathers". Mike graduated from Gwinn High School, Class of 1972, where he was known as ‘Big Boy.’ Following school, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1975. Mike later received his Associate’s Degree from NMU and in 1988 married Dawn Moyle.

Mike retired from CCI, was a member of the Forsyth Township fire department for 30 years, and was the "Water Guy" for Negaunee Township. He enjoyed refereeing high school football and basketball for many years. Most recently, Mike was "employed" by the Detroit Tigers Spring Training organization in Lakeland, and was the beloved roadie of the Yam Haus band.

Mr. Adams was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, RSVP of Marquette County, Negaunee Eagles, the Marquette County Fair board, and Saint Vincent de Paul, and was a former board member at Honor Credit Union. Mike enjoyed playing Old Timers Softball with his friends from Gwinn.

His life will be forever cherished by his wife, Dawn; son, Jason (Morgan) Adams; two grandsons, Blaze and Ty; son, Bryan; two brothers, Phil (Barb) and Geoff Adams; mother-in-law, Maryrose Moyle; brothers and sisters-in-law; Kurt & Lynette (Moyle) Beinlich, Michael & Ann Moyle, and Pat & Becky Moyle. He will be sadly missed by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Gordy Moyle; nephew, Nathan Beinlich, and Max.

Mike loved his family dearly, had a strong faith and a huge heart, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He enjoyed nothing more than being a grandpa, and spent time with his grandkids whenever possible.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 24th at St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, with Rev. Larry Van Damme officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 AM until the start of Mass at 11:00 AM at the church on Thursday.
