Lisa M. (Kurek) Roznick, 64, was born to Eternal Life on February 16, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. She was adopted by Valentine and Irene (Kisch) Kurek on May 6, 1957 and was loved dearly. She was strong-willed and independent from the very beginning and that never changed. She graduated successfully as a nationally certified ultrasound technologist. Lisa enjoyed running, swimming, boating, water skiing, snowmobiling, and almost any outdoor activity and a variety of crafts. She played the violin beautifully. Lisa married Roy Roznick, with whom she had two sons that she adored. Although Lisa and Roy later divorced, they remained good friends.
Lisa met Doug Landen and they started a wonderful relationship that has stood the test of time. When Lisa’s tumor first made itself known, Doug and Roy were both at her side during and after surgery, but it was Doug who helped Lisa recover at home. When the tumor resurfaced several years ago while they were in Florida, Doug was with Lisa to help her make difficult decisions.
Lisa is survived by her loving sister, Susan; her beloved sons, Daniel and Jacob; her cherished partner, Doug Landen; her treasured “sister from another mister,” Ann Landen; her nieces, Michaela Poelleritzer, Annemarie (Rafael) Guerrero, Sara Raney, and Patricia Raney, along with their children; and her dear friends, Mary Ellen O’Connell, JoAnn Shelby, Mary Hawn, Kathy Carey, and many others. Lisa will be met at Heaven’s gate by her parents; and her husband, Roy Roznick.
A special and heartfelt thanks to caregivers, staff, and chaplain at Marquette County Medical Care Facility and Lake Superior Hospice for their outstanding caring and compassionate attentiveness to Lisa. They have been a true blessing, especially Tami at MCMCF and Lisa, Barb, and Veronica at Lake Superior Hospice.
A true celebration of Lisa’s life will be held later this summer with Lisa’s Ladies and wine outdoors. Lisa would approve. May she rest in peace in the arms of our Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Marquette County Medical Care Facility or Lake Superior Hospice would be appreciated.
