Obituary for JAMES DOUGLAS CODY
James Douglas Cody, 74, of Midway Drive, Negaunee Township, passed away at his home Monday evening, February 1, 2021.
Jim was born November 23, 1946 in Ishpeming to Clayton and Margaret (Carlin) Cody, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of ’67 and was a lifelong Negaunee area resident. Jim completed his schooling at Michigan Technical College, earning an Associate’s Degree as a diesel mechanic. He was employed as a diesel mechanic at both Lakeshore Inc. and LS&I Railroad.
In his spare time, Jim loved being at his home doing tasks. He could usually be found tinkering around in his garage, maintaining the lawn and doing small projects.
Surviving are his loving wife of 42 years, Katherine (Lake) Cody; two sons, Eric and Christopher Cody, both of Negaunee Township; a grandson, Brayden Cody; his sister, Judith (Ben) Vanni of Negaunee; two brothers, Mike (Darlene) Cody of Shelby Twp. and Tom Cody of Negaunee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Clayton Cody.
In accordance with COVID-19 precautions, private family services will be held. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Jim’s memory to UPAWS.
