Constance Fay ‘Connie’ Johnson, 95, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, January 14, 2021 at the Eastwood Nursing Center.

Connie was born January 30, 1925 in Ishpeming to Sigurd and Myrtle (Burling) Anderson graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1943 and was a lifelong area resident. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, remarkably noted was her ability to remember all of her family members birthdays and anniversaries. Connie was formerly employed at the HW Gossard Company, sold Avon Cosmetics, and worked in the IGA bakery.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Mission Covenant Church in Ishpeming, formerly United Evangelical Covenant Church where she was active with the Covenant Women. She was also active in RSVP of Marquette County.
In her spare time, Connie enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader, loved to bake her delicious saffron buns and pasties, and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers.
Surviving are her four sons: Paul LaForest of Detroit and St. Petersburg, FL, Robert (Marlene) Johnson of Henderson, NV, Bruce Johnson of Negaunee and Donald (Julie) Johnson of Ishpeming; seven grandchildren: Regina (Ed) Grube, Michael LaForest, Jaclyn (Mike) Bennet, Ryan (Connie) Johnson, Dennis (Melissa) Allen, Douglas Allen and Tony Wirtanen; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Asikainen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Willie LaForest in 1948; husband, Oscar R. Johnson in 1988; a brother, Gordon Anderson; and six sisters: Dorothy Polyniak, Frances Heliste, Hazel Williams, Shirley Rule, Irene Willier and Marian Basal
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Mission Covenant Church. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.
