Obituary for CANDICE L. HINTSALA (Fosco)

Candice Lee ‘Candy’ (Fosco) Hintsala, 69, of Negaunee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday afternoon, December 9, 2020 at The Trillium House in Marquette while in the care of UP Home Health and Hospice.

Candy was born December 28, 1950 in Negaunee to George and Leatrice (Nordstrom) Fosco, graduated from Negaunee High School, Class of 1969 and was a lifelong area resident. Following school, she married Glenn R. Hintsala on June 13, 1971 and together they raised their two children. Candy worked for the Negaunee Credit Union for many years, retiring as senior loan officer and assistant manager.

Candy was a talented crafter; she loved scrapbooking, stamping and making homemade cards. Family was most important to her and she cherished spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No matter the sporting event or location, she was there in the role of number one fan.

Surviving are her loving husband, Glenn Hintsala; her son, Chad (Stephanie) Hintsala of Negaunee; her daughter, Shelly (Bud) Aho of Negaunee; five grandchildren: Megan, Autumn and Tyler Hintsala and Brock and Maci Aho; two great-grandsons, Logan and Lincoln; two brothers, Dennis (Nancy) and Gary (Terrie) Fosco; two sisters-in-law, Tina (Bob) Johnson and Christal (Danny) Peterson; brother-in-law, Fred (Betty) Hintsala; and numerous very special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Honoring Candice’s wishes, no public services will be held. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be directed to the Trillium House in Candy’s memory.
